Halloween Pumpkin Carving Traditions

Lets chat about family traditions and Pumpkin Carving Halloween! Let me start by saying, Dave and I always check our local events in our city news paper and Facebook for special events. Man oh man, the amount of fun activities in my city this weekend had my head spinning with excitement! There were so many festivals, parades and “Trunk or Treats” going on that I was having trouble picking just one. We have a tradition of picking one activity to celebrate the weekend before Halloween then, afterwards comes the fun part; We carve our pumpkins!

collage-blogLast year, I was 40 weeks pregnant with Mia and we went to the local Pumpkin patch. This year I wanted to switch it up some and we decide to go to a Jubilee downtown. They were having live music, rides, face painting and local venders all for FREE! Well, the food wasn’t of course, but other than that everything else was free. Mia had an absolute blast and even had her first funnel cake; which she absolutely loved! She was dancing to the live music and pointing out things being in utter amazement. This is her first Halloween and I believe I am just as excited as she is!

Mia, Dave and I danced to the live local Christian music while we eat funnel cakes in the statue park area. The greenery was as pretty as if it were Spring. Many gathered with their families to enjoy the free festivities and rides. Mia loved the Strawberry ride which goes around and round within a reasonable speed. She just smiled and smiled and of course tried to stand up in the seat. I truly enjoy family time. I pray that Mia looks back on all of the adventures and carries the traditions with her own children, (if she chooses to have any).

I have been told numerous times about how much fun the holidays become when you have your own children but never fully understood it. I have to agree, this weekend was a blast, (Julia was with her dad and couldn’t make the Jubilee but we waited on her for the pumpkin carving).
